Rural livelihoods.
Shared decisions.
From May 1999 to September 2001, I directed EU-funded Community Development and Food Security programmes for Ricerca e Cooperazione in northern Potosí, based in Llallagua, and in O’Connor Province, Tarija.
The work brought together programme coordination, municipal institutions, civil society and village-level initiatives to support agriculture and the sustainable use of natural resources.
Key responsibilities
- Programme leadership and grant management. Coordinated project activities, supervised staff and managed grant finances and administration.
- Local institutions and decentralisation. Advised municipalities on developing institutional frameworks that included civil society, NGOs and community-based organisations in the decentralisation process.
- Participatory monitoring and evaluation. Established monitoring and evaluation systems covering crops, rural infrastructure and social indicators, with participation built into programme follow-up.
- Village land-use planning. Promoted planning at village level to support the sustainable use of natural resources.
- Agriculture and rural infrastructure. Supervised rural development initiatives including irrigation schemes, crop improvement, warehouses, and agricultural and livestock extension.
